How to Keep the Same Outfit Across Three AI Shots

Anyone building a three-shot set can keep the same outfit across three AI shots in 15 minutes: lock color, fabric, and silhouette as tokens, change only pose or place, inpaint the garment if it drifts. Do it in ChatGPT image, Flux, or a Midjourney-style region edit before a character reroll recasts the person in a new coat.

If you regenerate the whole figure, you started a new wardrobe fitting.

This is not keeping a character consistent across prompts. That skill freezes face and identity. This one freezes clothes. If the whole picture still owes you a pass, use the three-pass image revision loop. Use this when the person is fine and the coat is the liar.

Keep the same outfit without a character reroll

1. Write the wardrobe lock: color, fabric, silhouette

Write three tokens on paper before you prompt. Not "smart."

• Color: a name plus a hex if you can sample one. Cobalt, #2F5AA8.
• Fabric: cotton twill, wool, silk, denim. One.
• Silhouette: boxy chore coat, hem at hip, five buttons, patch pockets.

Paste that lock at the top of every prompt. If you retype from memory, you will drop a pocket and the model will invent a zipper.

If the first-prompt layers are still soup, structure subject separate from atmosphere and keep the wardrobe in the subject block only.

Banned: stylish, fashionable, similar coat, same vibe, outfit of the day, "matching the last image" with no tokens.

2. Freeze the person. Do not reopen the face

Copy the face lock you already approved, then stop touching it. The job in this skill is the clothes.

In ChatGPT image, stay in the same chat and attach shot one. In Flux, attach that still as the garment reference. In Midjourney-class tools, vary the region of this frame. Do not swap in a prettier cousin because the sleeve looked cleaner.

Generate shot one until the coat is true. Then freeze. If you never saved shot one, you do not have a set.

3. Change only pose or place for shots two and three

An axis is pose, or location. One per shot. Not both plus a smile plus night.

Good: "Wardrobe lock unchanged. Pose only: seated on a stool, three-quarter, hands on knees."

Bad: "Same woman, now in rain, hood up, night street, smiling." Hood is a new silhouette. Night is a lighting rewrite. That is changing only the lighting in an image prompt, a different pass.

4. If the garment drifts, inpaint the outfit, not the face

Shot two will invent a new collar. Do not hit regenerate on the person.

Mask the garment plus a thin margin of cuff or hem. Stop at the jaw. A mask that licks the cheek is how a new face arrives wearing a "fixed" coat.

Inside the mask, repeat the three tokens. "Cobalt cotton chore coat, boxy, hem at hip, five buttons, #2F5AA8, same fabric weight as shot one, no new logos, no new jewelry."

Banned inside the mask: better outfit, more stylish, new accessories. Run the region once. Same seed if the tool has one. Reject any frame where the eyes, hairline, or coat color moved.

5. Three-shot pass/fail, then stop

Lay the three stills in a row. Pass or fail the coat, not beauty.

• Hex or named color present in all three.
• Fabric read the same: no sudden shine, no sudden knit.
• Silhouette present: hem, buttons, pockets.

If shot three fails the pocket, mask the pocket. After three region tries on the same garment lock, stop. A fourth try with a new seed is a new fitting.
