How to Prompt a Lo-Fi Study Loop that Does Not Drift

Anyone who studies with a bed can prompt a lo-fi study loop that does not drift in one sitting: freeze a 4-bar motif, ban the events that turn a bed into a song, then loop the take four times. Run it in Suno. If you notice a "part" on the third pass, the loop failed.

Models want structure. Structure wants a chorus. A chorus is a surprise. Surprises break reading. Forbid the surprise before you generate.

Keep a lo-fi study loop from drifting, five steps

1. Freeze the 4-bar motif on paper

Write the loop before Suno hears a genre.

• Chord move: one. "Am to F, two bars each." Not a chart.
• Motif: one. "Three-note Rhodes figure, same rhythm every bar."
• Drum idea: one. "Dusty dry kick on 1 and 3, no fill."

Example freeze: "4 bars, Am–F, Rhodes three-note figure, muted guitar ghost on 2 and 4, kick-snare that never opens, no crash."

If a later prompt adds "a little lift in the second half," you unfroze it. Second halves are albums.

2. Theme: dusty, limited, instrumental

Theme names genre, the small kit, and the motif.

"Lofi hip-hop instrumental, dusty vinyl, soft Rhodes, muted guitar ticks, dry kick, no sax, no vocal."

3. Mood: late-night, no drama

Mood is energy and space, not a plot.

"Late-night desk, small room, warm, slightly tired, no tension, no sunrise, no rain montage."

Banned Mood words: evolving, journey, dreamy build, bittersweet, hopeful, cinematic, emotional arc, study-core used as a story.

If the model writes a key change "to keep it interesting," you asked for drift. Study beds should be slightly boring.

4. Production: forbid the song

This line does the work.

"84 BPM, 45 seconds, stereo, no vocals, no vocal chops, seamless loop, no riser, no crash, no breakdown, no new section, no key change, no snare fill, same 4-bar motif the whole file, ending bar equals opening bar."

If bar 1 and the last bar do not match, you will hear a bump every 45 seconds. Reject it. Generate two takes. Flat is close. Do not ask for a "more alive" third.

5. Loop it four times. Then stop.

Loop it four times while you read a dull paragraph. Not while you watch the waveform.

Reject if you notice:

• A fill that only happens once.
• A pad that opens at the "halfway" mark.
• A melody that adds a fourth note on later bars.
• A fade-out that makes the seam a gulp.

One of those is drift. Do not EQ it into a loop. Rerun. Do not ask for an 8-minute version.
